Many tubes I thought were good were instead junk! Severe sectional mismatch, one section dead, etc. Now music is sooooooo smooth and coherent, like gentle Spring wind over a green meadow, like the velvety space between stars in a cloudless night sky. I have done all the matching to all the tubes within my system, some are replaced, some have their positions relocated. Gosh, the difference is like changing to another system! We definitely have overlooked the importance of tube matching and testing in the past. Many of us have spent thousands of dollars pursuing famous tubes without paying any attention to their condition in great detail (most of us just test emission, shorts and gas). This is a major cause of imperfection. AVO, Hickok or BK are outdated, they just give relative values, no standard calibration, tube sellers using their own testers can easily cheat customers. Besides, vintage testers haven't got the optimal voltage to really push the tube to its working condition, I doubt their results. I tried to match tubes with TV7 and that did not bring any improvement to my system. With AT1000, the improvement can easily be spotted by laymen. AT1000 is a must-buy for tube manufacturers, honest tube sellers and a dedicated tubephile. Any audiophile who claims to love the sound of tubes without seriously testing the tubes is an act of superstition, a practice of tube-worshipping without casting any doubt on the truthfulness of sound quality. As a musician, one would doubt the quality of glue used to refurbish his Stradivarius, as an audiophile, we should strive for the highest quality tube with best condition, which only AT1000 can prove. AT1000, a state of Art tester connecting vintage music components with modern technology, the most accurate, precise, user-friendly and trustworthy instrument ...you have done something not even Fluke or Tektronics can achieve for the audio community. Why are people listing things like a 2000USD AVO or Hickok on ebay, and why are people buying them? ...go and retire those stone age testers. -- Allan So, Hong Kong "...This tester will test the tubes at HIGH VOLTAGE. Most tube testers don't have this capability. So when your amp gets shipped the tubes have been tested and matched under the same high voltage load the amplifier is going to be running the tubes at." -- James West, http://bonepickerguitaramps.com/Home.html "I received the AT1000 yesterday and had a chance to try it out. I'm very impressed! It's so easy to use and compact unit with far more capability than the vintage testers. You did a great job designing this tester!" -- David Shapiro, bgn007a@verizon.net |
